Description

The Higsons - The Curse of The Higsons (Special Edition)

Repackaged version of the vinyl releases which first appeared in 1984. Chock-full of indie singles "Push out the boat", "Music to watch girls by" and an exclusive live version of Two-Tone classic "Run me down". Also includes the electro version of "Music to watch BOYS by" and "I don't want to live with monkeys" recorded live at London's Lyceum Ballroom.

The band was fronted by Switch - now known as Charlie Higson, star of The Fast Show, and author of 5 novels to date - and was multi-instrumentalist Terry Edwards' first band. John Peel was an early stalwart supporter of The Higsons, booking them for 5 sessions, the first of which was the most repeated debut session ever on his programme ('til The Smiths came along...)

Reviews

"Quite simply one of the most exuberant albums ever to come out of the eighties - great horns, funky bass lines, the pre-Fast Show Charlie "Switch" Higson's energetic vocals - a toe-tapping treat from start to finish.Standout tracks - The Junk Keeps Piling Up, Run Me Down (with its wonderful soul backing vocals) and a cheeky upbeat version of Music To Watch Girls By. Be transported back to the moshpit - this album sounds as fresh now as it did then."
